What is the CFA Fall Campaign?

The CFA Annual Giving Campaign is the one major ask for direct donations to help support CMI’s mission, activities, and goals. It will launch on October 28, 2019 , with the objective to hit our goal of $50,000 in donations by Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2019.


Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes! The Creative Families Association is an independent, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. Donors will receive a gift-receipt letter for tax purposes.

Because the CFA is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, we are eligible for employer matching gifts. If your employer matches charitable giving, you can double your impact!

If you already know your employer matches charitable gifts, please make your gift to the Creative Families Association today and get your employer's forms. We are an independent 501(c)(3) organization. Our Tax ID is 82-1090880.

Where does the money go? 

Each year we work closely with the school administration and board to identify how the CFA can help support CMI’s mission and fill funding gaps. This year, the funds raised by the CFA will support:

  • Technology enhancements such as smart boards and projectors for classrooms

  • Performing arts upgrades including event-space rental, sound buffering in the Main Hall, and musical instruments

  • Middle school field trips, picnic tables, and hands-on learning opportunities

  • Teacher appreciation including lunch on professional-development days, upgrades to the Teachers’ Lounge, a stocked fridge and pantry for teachers, and special events such as happy hours.

  • Scholarships for Creative Clubs and Extended Creative Day, to include all families who wish or need to participate in these enrichment activities, regardless of need


How can I donate?

  • By credit card: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the CFA can accept tax-deductible donations via PayPal. We can also accept monthly payments if you’d like to spread your gift out over 12 months

  • By check or cash: Please write your check out to the Creative Families Association. Checks and cash donations can be placed in the lockbox at the reception desk in the CMI lobby.  


Why is Participation Important?

No matter the size of your gift, your investment in CMI demonstrates your support for the school’s mission. Full participation gives CMI a competitive edge as it applies for outside grants, works to attract new families, or goes in front of the DC Public Charter School board for reviews and approvals.  When we invest in CMI, it encourages others to do the same!


How Much Should I Donate?

This year we ask that families consider a donation of $300 per child. Our goal is 100% participation, so please give an amount that is doable for your family. Every bit helps us reach our annual giving campaign goal of $50,000. The more we raise, the more resources we have to support important priorities for the school!

 As an incentive, individual contributions of $500+ will receive a CMI car magnet, and any individual contributing $1,000 or more will receive two complimentary tickets to the Spring Auction.
